An additional boost to U.S. fertilizer production

Northern Plains Nitrogen was initiated by the North Dakota Corn Growers Association
Currently 185 investors, including 3 Co-Ops, the majority of whom are North Dakota farmers

Ammonia production will be “blue”, CO2 will be transported and sequestered by Summit Carbon Solutions using proven technologies and practices.

Regionally, especially in North Dakota, in addition to the cost of fertilizers, farmers are especially concerned about the security of supply for their various nitrogen-based fertilizers.

All externally provided electrical power to the Complex will utilize renewable electricity through power purchase agreement with Minnkota-Nodak and their wind farm generation system.

Current supply chain situation has increased the anxiety and level of fear/concern with respect to the supply of nitrogen-based fertilizers. Factors include: supply & costs of diesel, availability of rail capacity to carry products, Mississippi River transport, alternative use of ammonia to more attractive markets (i.e. Fuel), and the changes in supply flows caused by geopolitical conflicts, such as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Majority of product will be shipped within a 400 mile radius, significantly reducing freight costs and carbon footprint vs. current fertilizer product, improving netback to NPN and less degradation of the urea granules (better product quality).
Water source will be city waste-water through agreement with city of Grand Forks.
Supported by local agricultural and business communities to alleviate national risks and uncertainties, while focusing on renewable energy and carbon sequestration.
